WHAT TO EXPECT!

So there is an organizing campaign at your work place and you want to know what's going to happen now. Well if it has been 24 hours, chances are good you have either received a "dear employee" letter or have had shop wide meetings, or both. The employer wants to try and convince you that you don't want a union, or that you don't need one. The company is going to tell you that the "UNION" is an outsider, or third party that "will come between the relationship." The truth is that you are the union, you and your fellow co-workers. We are here just to show you how to come together as a group and establish guaranteed rights. The company may even tell you that your part of the "family", but when was the last time you got treated like the next in line for ownership?
The truth of it is that the workers form the union, it's not a third party, it's the same people but united as one voice working together to benefit everyone. GCIU does not come in and take over like the company thinks, we show you how to become union and give you the tools you need to succeed. The company will talk about things like high dues and strikes to try and scare you away. Nobody will pay dues until after you have first decided to form a union, voted on it, negotiated a contract, and decided as a group that this is what you want, then you will become members.
You can expect that the company will counter the hand billing effort by offering you more pay, better benefits, maybe insurance or vacation, and they hope that this will stop you from pursuing those nasty union ideas but you still don't have any rights do you? Companies and most people don't really understand the roll of a union today, they have this grade school idea of PINKERTONS, and 1950's MOB RULES, that's not the 21st century union. The GCIU 543-M is committed to not only bettering the lives of it's members but insuring the success of the companies it represents, the more profitable the company the better the workers can be rewarded.

Unions today have to reolize that times have changed and at the gciu we understand this principle. If there is an organizing campaing in your workplace , chances are that your employer is not taking it very well. Unions cost companies money, resulting in layoffs, closings etc.Well that is what they want you to belive anyway. The truth is that companies that are organized do better, in many cases employers will admit that having a union has improved the ability of the companny to manage and prosper. The World Herald with it's 100 million dollar plus expansion and PCA with 10 milllion dollars worth of upgrades are prime examples of how union labor can help a company move ahead of the compition in the 21st century.
