WHO WE ARE!
Local 543-M is a labor union that represents workers in the printing industry in Omaha, Lincoln, and Council Bluffs. You most likely use many of the products that these craftsmen print. The World Herald, Quebecor, PCA, Mailwell, Registered Print, Unionist, and Omaha Poster are just a few of the shops that have chosen to be members of the GCIU. We are an organization that takes pride in the fact that we not only work hard to provide our membership better lives and work places, but that we work with the companies we represent to promote growth and profit so that the future is great for everyone and the growth and success of the company reflects upon the workers that made it happen.
WHY DO PRINTERS ORGANIZE?
Workers with the GCIU not only enjoy the benefits of better wages, insurance, vacation, and pensions, but more importantly, workers who are united and working with a contract between themselves and their employer are equal partners in the future. At will employees have virtually no rights! As a Union worker you have the protection of a CONTRACT, that means they have to have a reason to fire you, they have to give you that raise, they have to let you be represented, and they have to negotiate the terms that you work under.

We can show you how.
